Instant Connection—Soulmates? Reborn?

Today, one of my good friends was on my mind. I sometimes wonder how we got along so well in the beginning. I mean, when I first came to know of him, we didn’t talk at all. We sort of just acknowledged each other’s presence.

But now, we send each other pictures of our kitties or other things (mainly fluffs) and talk about anything. And since we’re both techie, there are some days when we write pseudo-code to each other. For those of you who don’t know what that is, it’s basically code written in plain English (or whatever speaking-language).

We’re not that close yet, but there are some days when I think about what it would be like if we dated. Would there be a change? What would change?  I read a lot of books and watch a lot of television dramas. People change when they’re in a relationship, subtly or drastically. When I wondered aloud if my sister, who is harsh in her words, would become nicer once she fell in love and started dating someone, she shot back asking if I would also change? I think I would…but I don’t know how. Maybe become more clingy, if I wasn’t already clingy enough (at least I admit to this!)

But here is a song that talks about rebirth from a relationship. How you change. It’s sort of an oldie Vocaloid song. I discovered it back when I was still into these autotune sounds haha x)

Everyday Romance

It’s a week till Valentines Day. What have you got planned? A sweet date with your partner or just a normal day? I’m not in a relationship at the moment, so I’ve nothing planned except writing and more writing.

Let me get you into the mood for romance~

Hello you with the beautiful eyes, it’s me, someone you don’t know. But I want to know you, can we be friends?
We already know each other…but can I know you more? I don’t know why, but I somehow feel a certain attraction to you…like it was destiny.

The X-Family; ft. Jack Na playing violin!

Hello everyone!

It’s the 7th day of the Lunar New Year! Happy birthday everyone! Since we’re still continuing our spree of violin music, let me share with you  one of my favorite violin scenes from the drama The X-Family.  I was originally gonna share something from Angel ‘n Devil, but I couldn’t find the specific clip I wanted.

However, the violinist is the same. Jack Na is an absolutely amazing actor and violinist! I also love the series that he plays in. I also recommend watching the KO series if you haven’t seen it already! The original order goes as such: KO One, The X-Family, KO 3an Guo. There’s also more in the series featuring a new generation of actors/singers: KO One Return, KO One Re-act, The X-Dormitory, Angel ‘n Devil, and KO One Remember. This series is absolutely amazing because I love the music in it and the idea of having powered-people living among normal people. Sort of like Harry Potter without wands. My favorite is Ko 3an Guo. Now without further ado….

Excuse the horrible quality. The show is quite old. If you need it, the Chinese titles of the series are:

  • 終極一班 KO One
  • 終極一家 The X Family
  • 終極三國 KO 3an Guo
  • 終極一班2 KO One Return
  • 終極一班3 KO One Re-act
  • 終極X宿舍 The X Dormitory
  • 終極惡女 Angel n’ Devil/ KO Bad Girls
  • 終極一班4 KO One Remember

This is the order of the release dates. If you want to watch it in chronological order according to the time and place in the series, KO One Remember comes after KO One Re-act. I think Angel n Devil is somewhere around the same time as KO One Remember, but that can be watched as a separate show since there are no cameos of other characters from the other series.  The X Dormitory is last 🙂

Enjoy!

Saiunkoku Monogatari

Saiunkoku Monogatari, or the Tale of the Kingdom of Colored Clouds  is what really got me into the sound of the Chinese violin (erhu 二胡). The main character, Shuurei, plays this instrument, and the sound is a key part in the anime’s soundtrack. Not only that, the story is extremely beautiful and enlightening. Each character has their own journey; there is a stream of elegance and refinement in all of them. The colors and the design of the drawings behind the anime is really beautiful as well. I encourage everyone who has not watched this to watch it. Or read it, as it is originally a light novel by Sai Yukino.

It’s not really a romance story either, although there are hints of it here and there. It’s more like…. a really intelligent story.

But the music is what makes it ever so more beautiful.

These are the songs played by the main character in the anime. Look at the thumbnail of the characters! Shuurei is the beautiful lady in the center, and the Emperor is behind her.

Listen, listen, listen!

Moonlight Sonata~Grenade

I really love any song that combines classical music with modern day songs. It really brings out the message that music began somewhere. Most musicians start out getting trained classically before they move on to other genres. Take this artist for example. He’s actually one of my favorite violinists out there!

As a musician myself, I know that no matter how much we like these new modern sounds, we always go back to our roots.

Violins~ Violins everywhere

Lately I’ve been really into string instrument songs, particularly violin ones. It’s probably because it was Lunar New Year this past weekend, and all I’ve been hearing is the festive music in Chinese culture. Of course, we have our own violin called the erhu, but I still love the sounds of the strings vibrating making music.

I always stated that when I have enough money, I’ll upgrade my current violin to become nicer sounding and I’ll also get an erhu so I could play my favorite tunes.

This week, starting today, I’ll be posting some of my favorite violin songs.

This one is Senbonzakura, a cover made by the renown Lindsey Stirling:

Isn’t it so beautiful? I love this song so much. I had actually forgotten about it until it popped up as a memory in my Facebook newsfeed.

I just love the fact that it’s very modern, yet holds a traditional melody and flow somewhere. Modern and traditional music mixed together is so awesome, I cry every time.
